THE HISTORY OF FUNYO RACING

Funyo Racing constructeur automobile

25 years of motorsports!

At the beginning of the last century, in 1999, the pilot and inventor YVES ORHANT created the Funyo Racing brand. All his creations were built in his workshop in Étrelles, a small municipality in Ille-et-Vilaine, near Rennes.

If his first Funyo creation was a Buggy, Yves quickly gave way over the years to the first prototypes of the brand.
The DNA of Funyo: simple prototypes that aim to be high-performing and accessible to the greatest number. Thus, enthusiasts discovered the Funyo F4, F5, RC, and finally SP05. A Funyo Challenge brought together the brand's drivers in the V de V championship for many years.

In 2018, Romain Angebeau, an engineer from the design offices of the Pescarolo and Ligier team in Le Mans for 13 years, took over the reins of Funyo Racing.

In 2019, the Sprint Cup by Funyo championship started as a support race for the FFSA French Championship. That same year, Funyo Racing also supports an Endurance Championship reserved for Funyo on races lasting 2 to 3 hours.

In 2020, Funyo Racing settled in Sarthe with the event agency Sagcom Events in the Allonnes business area (72) thanks to the support of Le Mans Métropole on 1,200 m².

Romain Angebeau will quickly brought a first significant evolution to the SP05 model. Indeed, a modification of the tank involved a 70L FIA model and an air-to-air exchanger kit giving the possibility of a one-hour drive autonomy. The following year, hub and "endurance" transmissions were added to the model:
The Funyo SP05 "EVO" was born.

Funyo drivers discovered hill climbing. Indeed, starting in 2021, the same SP05 EVOs competed in the FFSA French Mountain Championship (CFM) in the CN3 category. Funyo Racing continues to evolve its EVO car for "long" endurance races and thus demonstrates its very high reliability in 4-hour, 6-hour, or even 12-hour races.

Starting in 2022, Funyo Racing expands internationally and is also exported to several countries such as Belgium, Switzerland, Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, and finally the USA and the Middle East in 2024.

The Sprint CUP by Funyo championship is held every year in Europe on the most prestigious circuits such as Spa Francorchamps, Mugello, Imola, Barcelona, Zandvoort, Estoril...

Thus, the "small" French manufacturer has managed to create an optimum prototype that can compete in several disciplines and formats without any technical modifications needed.
To date, more than 230 Funyo have come out of its workshops.

Funyo Racing "the best pleasure-to-performance ratio" in motorsport.
