Zandvoort: "Espoirs category" in the spotlight!

After the summer break, the Sprint CUP by Funyo line-up returned to the fabulous Zandvoort circuit.

This meeting marked a crucial turning point, particularly for the young talents in the Espoirs category.

At stake was the precious sesame: one of 8 places in the Junior Programme Porsche Carrera Cup France.

On the seaside, the Espoirs category monopolized the overall standings. Romain Boeckler (#2 Loire Valley Racing) set the pace throughout the meeting: 2 pole positions, 4 wins and all the best race laps, including a reference time of 1:37.299. A truly outstanding performance and an exceptional rise in the standings.

Just behind him, Jérémy Siffert (#54 HMC Racing) made his mark by inviting himself onto all the podiums. A result that propels him directly into the Junior Programme Porsche Carrera Cup France.

The young talents of the Écurie Française shone with their fighting spirit. Sacha Clavadetscher (#95) and Hugo Roueche (#96) battled it out for supremacy in the standings. Sean Canivet (#7), at just 16 years of age, continues to impress in his first season. Opportunistic and formidably efficient, he climbed to second place on the overall podium on a circuit as demanding as Zandvoort, proving that he has a rightful place among the greats.

In the Gentlemen category, the suspense once again lived up to its promise. Cédric Gardin (#14 HMC Racing), the experienced leader, consolidated his lead in the championship with two wins. He had to battle hard against Pascal Lecomte (#55 Loire Valley Racing) and Frank Lefevre (#26 HMC Racing), the reigning champion who made a brilliant comeback in the Netherlands.

HMC Racing's Rémy Brouard (#78), Olivier Gauclère (#23) and Jean Claude Rolland (#28) also played spoilsport on the weekend's podiums.

For their part, Yves Orhant (#35 YO), Dominique Arnoux (#83 AMGV) and Chris Coppeland (#201 HMC Racing) put up stiff resistance to the winners, illustrating the category's unfailing competitiveness.

In the Challengers category, the duel between brothers Nicolas and Jean-Christophe Robin (#69, #277 DAFA Racing) and Dekel Naar (#49 Loire Valley Racing) created a real spark. These three drivers shared victories and podiums in some hard-fought battles. Étienne Champetier (#64 AMGV) and Edoardo Elia (#33 L'Écurie Française) were never far behind. The pressure is on as we approach the grand finale, where every point will be decisive.

To conclude this dream weekend, the Sprint CUP by Funyo proves once again that it is a real springboard to the top categories. François Hériau, a former Sprint CUP by Funyo champion, took pole position in the GT3 class at the Japanese round of the WEC in Fuji that same weekend. An inspiring trajectory for all the drivers present this weekend in Zandvoort.

Having crowned its winner for selection to the Junior Programme Porsche Carrera Cup France, all eyes are now on the Sprint CUP by Funyo final, which promises to be exceptional in Le Mans, the final stage of this exciting 2024 season.
